Copper|Null is an independent operating system project built around GNU Mach, the GNU Hurd, and AArch64. It began on physical Raspberry Pi hardware and has grown across Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 and Apple Silicon M1 and M4 hosted environments.
It is active. It is native. And it is becoming a place to build.

The person behind the project
A lifelong builder, working independently.
Ron has spent a lifetime with computers, though his path never followed the expected one. He started by typing BASIC into a TRS-80 Color Computer. He built and ran BBS systems, explored the early hacker world, and kept learning by working with real machines: servers, networks, software, electronics, and hardware that either worked or did not.
On paper, he was easy to underestimate. The work tells a fuller story.
Ron admires the ambition and lasting influence of Richard Stallman’s GNU work and Linus Torvalds’s work on Linux. Copper|Null grows from a related conviction: computing is still open to people willing to question its limits and do the work. This is Ron’s independent project, directed by a lifelong builder rather than an institution.

A foundation for what comes next.
Native Python 3 is a significant milestone for Copper|Null: demanding software integration that opens a practical foundation for applications and further native work.
The project also integrates a Copper|Null native AArch64 toolchain for compiling and linking native software. Together, these advances deepen the environment’s ability to support software built for it.
First application
Eye of Hacon
Eye of Hacon is the first application built on Copper|Null’s native Python foundation: a cleaner, simpler way to experience the internet, with less noise and more of what a person came to find.
